As the popularity and adoption of Ethereum increase, more transactions occur, and the network slows down while the cost to use it (gas) increases.
To solve this problem, Layer 2 “scaling solutions” have been developed, which alleviate this congestion.
While there are a few types of Layer 2 scaling solutions, they are generally independent blockchains or networks that are built on top of and interact with the Ethereum blockchain.
Think of the Ethereum blockchain as a piece of land. Once you have built a house on it, there’s no more room, and you have to buy another piece of land to build another house.
Instead of building a house, Layer 2 is more like a high-rise apartment building. It allows more people to live on the same block, which in blockchain terms = more transactions per block.
To use your OMI tokens in the VeVe app, you need to deposit your OMI from layer 1 to layer 2. This transaction is called a ‘bridge.’
Once you have successfully deposited your tokens to layer 2, you can send them to your OMI wallet in VeVe, and use them to maximize your collectibles experience!
