As the popularity and adoption of Ethereum increase, more transactions occur, and the network slows down while the cost to use it (gas) increases.

To solve this problem, Layer 2 “scaling solutions” have been developed, which alleviate this congestion.

While there are a few types of Layer 2 scaling solutions, they are generally independent blockchains or networks that are built on top of and interact with the Ethereum blockchain.

Explain it to me like I’m 5

Think of the Ethereum blockchain as a piece of land. Once you have built a house on it, there’s no more room, and you have to buy another piece of land to build another house.

Instead of building a house, Layer 2 is more like a high-rise apartment building. It allows more people to live on the same block, which in blockchain terms = more transactions per block.

Why Does it Matter?

  1. VeVe, as in the whole application, including all digital collectibles, comics, and Artworks NFTs, exists on a Layer 2 scaling solution called Immutable X.
  2. However, the OMI token exists on layer 1 Ethereum and layer 2 Immutable X. We call them layer 1 OMI and layer 2 OMI.”
  3. While it’s the same token, you must deposit your OMI to Layer 2 before you can send them to the VeVe app to use in the Master Collector Program.
  4. If you bought OMI on an exchange or currently have it stored in your cold wallet, you are holding OMI on Layer 1 (Ethereum)
  5. If you already have OMI in your VeVe app wallet and can see a positive balance when you use the VeVe web wallet, you have Layer 2 OMI (Immutable X)
  6. If you want to use your OMI tokens in the VeVe app, such as in Reward Tier Season Zero, you need layer 2 OMI.

Using OMI Tokens in the VeVe app ⭕ 💙

To use your OMI tokens in the VeVe app, you need to deposit your OMI from layer 1 to layer 2. This transaction is called a ‘bridge.’

Once you have successfully deposited your tokens to layer 2, you can send them to your OMI wallet in VeVe, and use them to maximize your collectibles experience!
